Mexican - Rio Verdence Restaurant on Quitman at Cochran near downtown

I was doing one of my neighborhood explores and came across Rio Verdence. I'd had a craving for chilaquiles. They offer them with green or red sauce, either spicy or not spicy. And they were very good.

The place was hopping in the morning, as people were coming in to sample the extensive breakfast menu.

A high point for me: I got to sample their mole rojo which they advised was a Jalisco style and a tad sweeter than a mole Poblano. It is the lunch special on Friday. It was a very good mole and I am already looking forward to a visit to this wonderful restaurant.

And also, respect to mole; journalist, Alice Levitt, has written an excellent article for Eater on where to find excellent mole in Houston. She lists several regional styles here in this link to the article:

See how thick these tortillas are?  Definitely not store bought. Definitely made in house to order!

The house specialites.

Note: They close at 4:00.
