Outside the Loop - The Monument Inn Seafood

Consider a road trip to visit the San Jacinto Monument and its museum to pick up a little bit of knowledge on early Texas history. And then, a visit to the Monument Inn, built on the site of the San Jacinto Inn. When I was a kid, that was the place I wanted to go for my birthday. They had their own fleet of fishing boats. The family style dinner was a fixed price and all you cared to eat. Chowing down on Gulf shrimp cocktail and an assortment of fried seafood and fixings.

The Monument Inn carries on that tradition and even offers an all you can eat option for around $40. But the standard order is more than enough.

Yeast rolls and cinnamon rolls, family recipe, come to your table.

Fried shrimp have a crispy Panko crust and are a favorite of mine.

Highly recommended if you have out of state visitors.
